President Obama held his first news conference since winning reelection in the East Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 14. One person has been killed and five wounded as protests by South African farmworkers demanding higher pay erupted into sporadic violence on Nov. 14. Several thousand farm workers from the vineyard region have been on strike for more than a week, calling for their salaries to be doubled to 150 rand, or $11 a day.
