Welcome to FOREIGN POLICY magazine.

Founded in 1970 by Samuel Huntington and Warren Demian Manshel, FOREIGN POLICY is the premier, award-winning magazine of global politics, economics, and ideas. Our mission is to explain how the world worksin particular, how the process of global integration is reshaping nations, institutions, cultures, and, more fundamentally, our daily lives.

Equal parts scout and translator, we draw on the worlds leading journalists, thinkers, and professionals to analyze the most significant international trends and events of our times, without regard to ideology or political bias. Whether dissecting George W. Bushs new national security strategy, hunting for the real identity of the international community, or investigating the rise of Japanese pop culture, we strive to combine original thinking with real-world examples of ideas in action.

In a field that too often equates seriousness with boredom, we present time-starved and information-saturated readers with innovative editorial features, eye-catching layouts, graphics, and artworkand a healthy dose of irreverence.

FP is dedicated to reaching a broad, nonspecialized audience that recognizes that what happens there matters here, and vice versa. Our readers include some of the most influential leaders in business, government, and other professional arenas in the United States and more than 90 other countries. In addition to our flagship English-language edition and Web site, foreignpolicy.com, FOREIGN POLICY is published in Arabic, Greek, Italian, Spanish (three editions), and Turkish. We also reach more than 10 million additional readers around the world through a network of syndication agreements that circulate FPs content.

Two and one-half years after it relaunched from a quarterly academic journal to a bimonthly, full-color magazine, FOREIGN POLICY received the 2003 National Magazine Award for General Excellence for magazines with a circulation under 100,000. The National Magazine Award judges said, FOREIGN POLICY, a bimonthly of global politics, economics, and ideas, is sophisticated enough for experts and accessible to concerned citizens. It is as timely as today’s headlines, remarkably prescient, and creative in finding new ways to explore complex ideas.

FOREIGN POLICY was the recipient of the 2001 Editorial Excellence Award and two Ozzie Awards for design, presented by Folio.
