Just when I thought the Air Force blog study would be one of the most interesting nuggets I would ever discover on defenselink.mil - the DoD's website - I was blown away today by the "Check It" campaign. The Check It campaign was designed so that all Defense Department employees, from soldiers in the field to payroll employees, are checking to make sure they are doing their jobs correctly.

Just when I thought the Air Force blog study would be one of the most interesting nuggets I would ever discover on defenselink.mil – the DoD’s website – I was blown away today by the “Check It” campaign. The Check It campaign was designed so that all Defense Department employees, from soldiers in the field to payroll employees, are checking to make sure they are doing their jobs correctly.

For a warfighter in the field, it might be rechecking to ensure a weapon has been properly loaded…. For a pilot, it’s going through the standard pre-flight checklist. For someone processing payroll actions, it might mean considering: “Have we taken the quality checks we need to make sure a paycheck is done on time and in the right amount?”

Most importantly, the administrator of the program understands the impact of the DoD’s work.

Within DoD, cutting corners or overlooking critical details can cost more than dollars, Jonas said. It can cost lives.

I absolutely agree. I was just hoping that people at the DoD already knew this.
