At 4:05 PM (EST) the CEO of Hewlett Packard will try and stop the tumble in the firm's share price with a press conference, no doubt to be full of awkward questions on why the firm spied on its own board and considered placing plants in the newsrooms of the Wall Street Journal and CNET news. When taken with an upcoming Congressional hearing into the firm's behavior, today's an inconvenient day to be accepting nominations for this year's HP-sponsored 2006 Privacy Innovation Award, which recognizes organizations "that have made strong and unique contributions to the privacy industry."
