Their harrowing experiences go largely unrecognized, but the effects of their work are immense - from giving a voice to those often unheard to defending the freedom of expression. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) recently honored the recipients of its annual International Press Freedom Awards, distinguishing selected international journalists who continue their work despite continued attacks, imprisonment, and harassment. This week, FP caught up with the three awardees, Colombian photojournalist Jésus Abad Colorado, Yemeni editor Jamal Amer, and Gambian journalist Madi Ceesay to learn more about their work in unfree societies.
