Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas phoned PM Ismail Haniya today in an effort to reduce tensions between Fatah and Hamas. Haniya is headed for a regional tour, where he will attend the Hajj in Mecca and meet with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah. He and Abbas will likely meet in Jordan following the trip.

Haniya is headed for a regional tour, where he will attend the Hajj in Mecca and meet with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah. He and Abbas will likely meet in Jordan following the trip.

Meanwhile, Abbas is cutting deals with Egypt and Israel to bring more guns to his security forces, which are often outgunned by Hamas. I guess Abbas is not putting all of his eggs in the peace basket.
