I have to admit, I'm hooked on the Harry Potter series. Like other J.K. Rowling fans, I'm wondering if the dénouement of Harry and the Deathly Hallows, her hugely anticipated seventh novel, will include the demise of Harry, the bespectacled protagonist.

There's one group of folks that isn't wondering at all, however: British bookies. Bloomberg reports that bookmakers in Rowling's native Britain are so sure that Harry is toast, they've stopped taking bets on the matter. They're accepting wagers on the identity of his killer instead. Lord Voldemort is the obvious choice, at odds of 2-1, with Snape a close second at 5-2.

My guess is that Rowling won't be so predictable, if Harry dies at all. What if, for instance, he finally declares his secret passion for Hermione, whose love saves him from Voldemort's clutches?
