It looks like you may need to buy a new atlas sooner rather than later. The Guardian reports that Agim Ceku, the prime minister of Kosovo, is calling for a unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia. He's even picked a date—November 28—which happens to be Albania's independence day. (That should satisfy the 90 percent of Kosovars who are ethnic Albanians.)

He’s even picked a date—November 28—which happens to be Albania’s independence day. (That should satisfy the 90 percent of Kosovars who are ethnic Albanians.)

Ceku complains that the United Nations is taking too long to push forward with any resolution on the province. Indeed, the BBC reports that this delay may get even longer, now that Russia has vowed to veto any resolution that would give Kosovo “supervised independence.” The United States might grudgingly support a unilateral move by Kosovo, but the European Union and the U.N. have warned against it. So when—and how—will Kosovo’s future be decided? Stay tuned.
