- “Circling the globe on muscle power,” by Simon Kurs in the Times of London. On Saturday, Englishman Jason Lewis looks set to become the first person to have circumnavigated the globe under his own power. The 14-year journey included rollerblading from Miami to San Francisco. He says he did it not to save the planet, but because it sounded fun.

- British comedian, writer, and filmmaker Stephen Fry, perhaps best known for his role in the BBC series “Blackadder,” just launched a very wordy but erudite and hilarious blog a few weeks ago. So far he’s had two entries. One is on the ups and downs of fame. The other is an incredibly detailed blog-essay (or “blessay,” as Fry calls it) about the virtues and drawbacks of various smart phone devices and the different networks they run on in Europe and in the United States.

- “A Reporter Exposes Fishy Stocks. His Boss, Mark Cuban, Trades on the Findings,” in Wired. Patricia B. Gray details how the Internet is changing investigative journalism.
- “The Past, Present, and Future of Neoconservatism,” Commentary, October 2007. Joshua Muravchik uses 8,000 words to call for more cowbell in the Middle East.
- “The World’s Top Sports Brands,” by Michael K. Ozanian and Peter J. Schwartz. In the magazine’s latest big list, Forbes reveals what the world’s most valuable sports brands are as well as the world’s most valuable athletes, teams, businesses, and events in separate lists. It may not surprise you that Tiger Woods tops the athletes list, or that “ManU” is the most valuable team.
