FOREIGN POLICY Receives
National Magazine Award Nomination
Magazine Recognized for General Excellence for the Fifth Consecutive Year
For the fifth straight year, FOREIGN POLICY has been nominated for the magazine industrys most coveted prize, the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. The finalists for the awards, presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors, were announced yesterday in New York City.
The General Excellence nomination is FOREIGN POLICYs sixth in the past seven years. The magazine won the Ellie for General Excellence in both 2003 and 2007. Since 2005, no other publication of its size has received more General Excellence nominations.
In reaction to the nomination, FOREIGN POLICY Editor in Chief Moiss Nam said, I am thrilled that the quality of our work at FP continues to be recognized by our peers. They know what it takes to produce an excellent magazine, and that is why having been nominated is such an honor. A good magazine is the result of a collective effort, and I am happy that the hard work of FP editors, designers, and authors has paid off once again.
The 2009 finalists were chosen from 1,707 entries submitted by 350 print and online publications. Votes were collected from 275 senior editors, art directors, photo editors, industry veterans, and journalism educators. The winners will be announced at a black-tie gala at New York Citys Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 30.
FPs National Magazine Award entry is composed of three FP issues:
A World Without Islam (January/February 2008)The Coming Financial Pandemic (March/April 2008)The Israel Myth (May/June 2008)
A complete list of the 2009 nominations can be found at the American Society of Magazine Editors Web site: http://www.magazine.org/asme/magazine_awards/nma_winners/index.aspx
