William Wechsler is the new deputy assistant secretary of defense for counternarcotics and global threats. Wechsler served on the NSC staff and in the Treasury Department during the Clinton administration, where he focused on developing tools for the disruption of terrorist financing.

William Wechsler is the new deputy assistant secretary of defense for counternarcotics and global threats. Wechsler served on the NSC staff and in the Treasury Department during the Clinton administration, where he focused on developing tools for the disruption of terrorist financing.

David Sedney, a career Foreign Service officer, is the new DASD for Central Asia.  He shifted over from the DASD position for East Asia, a position now held by Michael SchifferCraig Mullaney began working after Memorial Day as the Principal Director for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia; he and DASD Sedney report to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asia Pacific Security Affairs Chip Gregson.

Simona Guha, a career Foreign Service officer, has joined the OVP staff, supporting the vice president on Europe/FSU/Russia matters.  She previously served as a Pearson Fellow in the Office of Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin.
