Hi, I am back. I had a great August — not so much a vacation, as a retreat to begin serious work on my next book, looking at American generalship from World War II to the present. Right now I am deep into the Army’s operations in 1944. On the one hand, the more I learn, the less I think of Omar Bradley’s concept of leadership. Yet I suspect he was indeed the right guy for the job, or at least the best available.
