I got an iPod last Christmas and have been experimenting with different podcasts. The ones at TedTalks are the best I’ve found. The legendary Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) Conference brings the world’s smartest people together from across disciplines. Its podcasts allow people to listen in as top scientists, executives, and thinkers share their visions for the future.

Media Commons is a digital salon for scholars. The site’s innovative online video experiment encourages academics to take clips from contemporary television and use them as a springboard for cultural debate. One recent discussion, for example, used a clip from the Sci Fi Channel’s popular show Battlestar Galactica to discuss race relations.

The British youth-oriented Web site MediaSnackers features a blog for young people to share their thoughts on global issues and reflect on how technologies such as social networking and gaming are affecting their lives.
