I arrived last night in Salt Lake only to be told by the Marriott University Park that while I did indeed have a reservation, they had given away my room. What up with that? That’s the last time I stay at a Marriott.
So I ended up sleeping at a place at nearby Fort Douglas, which Abraham Lincoln named for his old rival. Sam Walton do his Army service here, and one of the most interesting American generals of World War II, Terry de la Mesa Allen, was born here.
