This rambling but juicy story about a brigade commander’s wife at Fort Bragg going rogue suggests that a high-profile battalion commander was relieved because of a feud between wives. At any rate, the wife has been banned from most contact with her husband’s unit.

Yes, this kind of thing has been going on forever. I see two differences nowadays, though. First, the status of women is different. Unlike the old days at Fort Apache, women vote, have careers and know how to speak up. Second, we are in our ninth year of the unprecedented experiment of having a small, all-volunteer force fight long wars overseas, and from what I hear, the system of voluntary family support groups is cracking.
