It’s less than two weeks until Chelsea Clinton’s July 31 wedding, and the mother of the bride — Secretary Clinton — is thousands of miles away in Pakistan. Concentrating on high-level diplomacy while your only daughter’s wedding is in the back of your mind — or maybe even at the front — has got to be tough.
An Associated Press article yesterday states that Hillary and Bill Clinton are "nervous wrecks" about the wedding. When NBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked the secretary yesterday about Bill’s role during the wedding ceremony, she said with a laugh:
"You should assume that if he makes it down the aisle in one piece it’s going to be a major accomplishment.… He is going to be so emotional, as am I."
So if Secretary Clinton seems a bit anxious over the next 12 days, please go easy on her.
