I didn’t know this. General Dempsey said it yesterday to a gathering of soldiers in Baghdad:
"Let me share something with you that I don’t share with everybody. I just recovered from a bout with cancer. In — I started my treatment last December. It went through the early part of November. And you know, there was a time — this — it’s a — it’s a pretty tough regimen. I mean, it’s chemotherapy, it’s radiation, it’s day after day of — you know, it’s just — if you’ve had a loved one go through it, you know, it’s just a — it’s a — it’s a grind."
I am glad to see that he came through it so well. I think he has the makings of a fine Army chief of staff, and hope he is.
