Russia is signaling that the race to lead the International Monetary Fund is over before it's officially begun. Via Reuters:

"It's difficult to compete with (Lagarde)," Sergei Storchak, Russia's deputy finance minister and the government's representative to the G8, G20 and the IMF said.

"There is no figure of the same scale, of the same knowledge, education. Plus, we understand that behind her are countries that have a huge number of votes (at the IMF)."
