I got nothing new to say about Thursday’s pronouncements, except this thought: These cuts are the beginning, not the end. Also, President Obama’s favorite metaphor, "the tide of war is receding," is more pessimistic than it seems. Nothing is more predictable than shortly after the tide stops going out, it starts coming back in.
