Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, wants to create a registry of Muslims in the United States. Many who worship Allah on American shores are more than ready to help him.

Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, wants to create a registry of Muslims in the United States. Many who worship Allah on American shores are more than ready to help him.

Trump made the database suggestion in the wake of recent terror attacks in Paris that left 130 dead. He’s also called for mosques to be closed and for the return of the waterboarding interrogation technique.

American Muslims from all walks of life are getting in on the trend, #Muslimid. They include U.S. service members, doctors, and journalists.

This is from Tayyib Rashid, a Muslim American and a service member in the U.S. Marines. He’s been retweeted more than 30,000 times.

Others soon followed.

Predictably, the backlash to the tweets was often nasty. They included messages like the following:
