In the September issue of ARMY magazine, there’s an interesting comment from former Sgt. Robert Vessels, who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Asked by the magazine’s Jennifer Benitz about advice, he responded, “Find other veterans. When I got out, I moved in with my parents in Indiana, and I didn’t know anyone there … I had absolutely no one to relate to…. Then I got the opportunity to move to Ventura, California, and live with two of my Army buddies, and that was the best decision I ever made. Once I moved in with them, I was around people who could relate.” He now works for the Sierra Club’s Military Outdoors program.
