Cruz to Trump: I’m ‘Just a Steel Town Girl on a Saturday Night’
Ted Cruz pushed back against Trump's criticism in one of the more awkward ways possible.
Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas who is surging in the 2016 race for the GOP presidential nomination, responded to a jab from frontrunner Donald Trump in one of the more awkward ways possible: with a four-minute dancing clip by actress Jennifer Beals.
Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas who is surging in the 2016 race for the GOP presidential nomination, responded to a jab from frontrunner Donald Trump in one of the more awkward ways possible: with a four-minute dancing clip by actress Jennifer Beals.
After Trump told “Fox News Sunday” that Cruz is “frankly like a little bit of a maniac,” the senator kicked back a few hours later on Twitter.
For those uninitiated in 1980’s cinema, that’s Beals in “Flashdance,” a 1983 film that tells the story of a steelworker in Pittsburgh who becomes a dancer. Given that the video is essentially four minutes of a half-naked Beals gyrating while her pit bull watches, it’s likely to do little to lessen Cruz’s reputation as someone who has a difficult time making normal folks feel comfortable on the campaign trail.
The origin of the Trump/Cruz beef came last week, when audio of the Texan questioning the billionaire businessman’s “judgment” emerged. Trump has yet to respond to Cruz’s “Flashdance” tweet, but he did attack him just a few minutes before the message was posted.
What a feeling.
