Trump Predicts Britain Will Leave Europe Because of Muslims
Donald Trump is pro-Brexit because of Muslim immigrants.
For those of you holding their breath, waiting for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump to weigh in on whether Britain should leave the European Union, you can now exhale: He predicted London would go, and for a very Trump-like reason: Muslims.
For those of you holding their breath, waiting for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump to weigh in on whether Britain should leave the European Union, you can now exhale: He predicted London would go, and for a very Trump-like reason: Muslims.
In an interview with Piers Morgan that aired in Britain on Thursday, Trump said he had “great love” for the U.K. But he added migrants “pouring in all over the place” would be the deciding factor when Brits take to the polls June 23 to decide whether to stay in Europe.
“I think maybe it’s time, especially in light of what’s happened, with the craziness that’s going on with the migration, with people pouring in all over the place,” Trump said. “I think that Britain will end up separating from the EU, that’s my opinion. I’m not endorsing it one way or the other, but that’s my opinion. I think a lot of people want to see that happen.”
Trump, who wants to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States, added that the U.K. has a “massive Muslim problem.”
The billionaire businessman, who’s been on a bit of a grim victory lap after this week’s terror attacks in Brussels due to his warnings about the dangers of Muslim immigrants, also doubled-down on his claim that sections of London are “so radicalized” that police were “afraid for their own lives.”
“A lot of people — and I mean thousands and thousands of people — were tweeting, saying, ‘You’re right, you’re right, Mr. Trump, you’re right,’ and so I don’t know what’s going on over there, but I can tell you there is some unrest,” Trump said in the interview aired Thursday.
Trump is no hero in Britain. Prime Minister David Cameron has blasted the GOP leader for his proposed Muslim ban, and London Mayor Boris Johnson has vowed not to visit New York over fears of running into the real estate mogul. British parliament also considered a ban to keep Trump out of the country.
Trump, for his part, remained undeterred after the full interview ran on British network ITV on Thursday. He tweeted the following around noon:
