FP Virtual Dialogue: 5G Global Power Plays

July 22, 2020

Exploring risks and opportunities across the global 5G ecosystem

Few innovations have the potential to shape the global landscape as profoundly as 5G, which has the power to completely revolutionize the way we work and live by connecting billions of people and devices at speeds never before thought possible. Yet despite this potential, both the technology itself and its likely transformative impacts remain widely misunderstood. This leaves countries and companies at the leading edge with a competitive advantage as they strategize their approach to this game-changing technology.

Helping shed light on this issue, FP Analytics released a three-part 5G Explained Power Map — an interactive deep-dive into the opportunities and challenges surrounding 5G.

Bringing these insights to life, this FP Virtual Dialogue convened leading experts from the tech, industry, and policy arena for a closer look at what’s at stake in the global “race to 5G.” We explored key aspects of this complex debate, including: the physical underpinnings of 5G infrastructure and key barriers to investment and further rollout; the global competitive landscape around the technology and its business impacts; and the national security implications of 5G.
