Live Taping of The Catch @ COP28

The Catch - live taping

Join us for a live taping of The Catch

Over half of the world’s fish populations are likely to move from their historic habitats by the end of the century. Pushed by rising temperatures and changing ocean cycles, these migrating fish stocks could be the cause for our next international conflict. Between the end of WWII and the collapse of the Soviet Union, a quarter of the world’s conflicts were tied to fisheries. And experts expect this number to rise as fishing grounds shift, reliance on the oceans for food increase, and maritime borders move with sea level change. What can be done to prevent this next global conflict?

Foreign Policy is teaming up with the Walton Family Foundation for a live podcast taping at COP28. This discussion will be featured on Season 3 of The Catch, a podcast on global fisheries. This season focuses on cod as host and acclaimed journalist Ruxandra Guidi heads to northern Norway to meet with the fishers and processors caught up in the great powers competition. And we’ll hear from experts on what the Cod Wars – a decades-long conflict – can teach us about preventing future conflict over fish.

This season of The Catch, we’re adding one more special element. A live taping at COP28.

Join us for a wide ranging discussion on the role of governments, NGOs, and policy makers in preventing the next global conflict.
