What Happened After El Chapo Was Arrested?

Foreign Policy recommends: Vice News’ “Chapo.”

In our last Foreign Policy Playlist episode in May, we feature Vice NewsChapo: Kingpin on Trial. It’s a miniseries that explores the impact of Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán by sharing the stories of people who were caught up in the joint U.S. and Mexican drug war.

Episode seven of Chapo follows the violence that came after El Chapo was arrested and extradited to the United States. Foreign Policy’s Amy Mackinnon talks to Chapo’s host Keegan Hamilton about how they put together the episode and how they treated a story that affected a member of their own team.

On I Spy, we hear from the operations people: the spies who steal secrets, who kill adversaries, who turn agents into double agents. Each episode features one spy telling the story of one operation.
