Syria’s Lost Generation

Introducing: Syria’s Lost Generation

A new podcast series about young people displaced by war.

In Syria’s Lost Generation, a new six-part podcast, we hear from young people displaced by one of the most horrific wars of our time. The host, Liam Cunningham, is an award-winning actor who has worked with NGOs to raise awareness about the plight of refugees. Stories on the show are reported by David Enders, an award-winning journalist who has covered war in Syria, Iraq, and Libya. In the first episode, airing 10 years since the start of the Syrian uprising in March 2011, Enders meets Nisrene, Ayoub, and Rouba in a refugee camp in Lebanon.

Syria’s Lost Generation is produced by Foreign Policy in partnership with World Vision and the Syrian American Medical Society—nonpolitical organizations purely focused on the humanitarian aspect of the crisis.

About Syria’s Lost Generation:  A decade of war in Syria has devastated the country and spawned one of the worst refugee crises in the world. Millions of Syrians fled over the years to neighboring Lebanon and Jordan, where they live to this day in makeshift camps. Millions more are displaced inside Syria. On March 9, Foreign Policy, in partnership with World Vision International and the Syrian American Medical Society, brings you Syria’s Lost Generation, a six-part podcast about young Syrians who expected to live normal lives—going to school and making friends. Instead, they and their families were uprooted by war and traumatized by displacement. The series is reported from the region by journalist David Enders, who covered the Syrian war, and hosted by award-winning actor Liam Cunningham, who has worked with NGOs, including World Vision, to raise awareness for the plight of refugees. I Spy

Spies don’t talk—it’s the cardinal rule of the business. But here at Foreign Policy, we get them to open up. On I Spy, we hear from the operations people: the spies who steal secrets, who kill adversaries, who turn agents into double agents. Each episode features one spy telling the story of one operation.
