Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, President of Argentina

Party: Front for Victory

Assumed office: Dec. 10, 2007

Cristina Kirchner is the first woman to be elected president in Argentina's history, but her tenure has been tainted somewhat by the perceived strong hand of her husband and predecessor, Néstor Kirchner. Add to that a series of minor scandals, Argentina's economic troubles, and the strange re-eruption of the Falklands War, and the president's reputation is flagging, along with her poll numbers. After an ugly drubbing in last year's legislative elections, the Kirchner's Front for Victory party will probably be heading for the exits in 2011, bringing Argentina's modern-day Evita along with it.
