Harold Brown


Harold Brown was secretary of defense for all four years of the Carter administration. Prior to that, he served as director of defense research and engineering under President Kennedy, and as secretary of the Air Force under President Johnson. His views and policies on nuclear deterrence are most lately gathered in his forthcoming book, Star Spangled Security: Lessons Learned Over Six Decades Safeguarding America, available from Brookings Institution Press this October.
