Fatima
El-Issawi is a Research Fellow at Polis,
a journalism and society think tank in the Department of Media and
Communications at the London School of Economics (LSE). She has over 15 years
of experience in covering the Middle East for international media outlets. The
research for this article was conducted under the auspices of the "Arab
Revolutions: Media Revolutions" project at LSE.
