Thom Shanker
Thom Shanker is director of the Project for Media and National Security at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. In a quarter-century career with the New York Times, he spent 13 years as a Pentagon correspondent covering the Department of Defense, overseas combat operations, and national security policy, and he later was the paper’s deputy Washington editor, managing coverage of the military, diplomacy, and veterans’ affairs.
